Traineeships and Apprenticeships

Australian Business & Hospitality Training partners with businesses of all sizes to find the training solutions tailored to your needs. We make sure you get the right training that fits your business like a glove!

The Queensland Government will contribute towards the cost of training and assessment for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees.

Who is Eligible?

To be eligible to receive a government contribution, the apprentice or trainee must:

• have entered into a Training Contract for a qualification that is funded by the department

• be registered on DELTA with a commencement date or recommencement date on or after 1 July 2021

• select a training provider that holds SAS status for their nominated qualification (that's us) and

• they are registered in the department’s registration system DELTA, and

• their visa allows them to work in Australia.

Student Contribution Fees

Please Note: The funding provided by Queensland Government doesn't cover the full cost of training. Student contribution fees are the non-government financial contribution to the cost of the training and assessment services provided by Australian Business & Hospitality Training.

Student Contribution fees under the User Choice program are set at (non-concessional) $1.60 per nominal hour or (concessional) $0.64 for each unit of competency.

Certificate III Guarantee

The Certificate III Guarantee program, backed by the Queensland Government, is here to help you kickstart your career by funding your first post-school Certificate III qualification. If you’re eligible, you could score a subsidy for one of the many courses. Check out the total list of courses and more info at the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training's Certificate 3 Guarantee website.


The Certificate 3 Guarantee program will provide a government subsidy towards the training cost for eligible participants undertaking a Certificate III level qualification or Certificate IV / Diploma through Higher Level Skills funding.

Who is Eligible?

a) Australian, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents

b) be 15 years old or over

c) live in Queensland and have left school

d) not already have a certificate III level or higher qualification

e) not be currently enrolled in a certificate III level or higher course.

Co-Contribution Fee

Given the benefits that accrue to individuals from training, students undertaking certificate III level training and non-concessional students undertaking lower-level vocational training, will be required to contribute to the costs of their training through a co-contribution fee.

This program offers cool subsidies to help you get into Certificate IV or higher qualifications, plus priority skill sets. If you're eligible, you can snag financial support for one of the awesome courses on the list.

Who is Eligible?

a) Australian, New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents

b) be 15 years old or over

c) live in Queensland and have left school

d) not hold a certificate IV or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training; and

e) not be enrolled in another qualification, not including foundation skills training.

Co-Contribution Fee

Given the increased benefits that you can gain from higher-level training, you are required to contribute to the cost of your training through a co-contribution fee.

The fee may be paid on your behalf by an employer or another third party but cannot be paid or waived by the training provider, or any organisation related to the training provider, unless approved by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training.

Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS)

Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) is all about diving into the world of hands-on learning while you're still in high school. Imagine getting a head start in your dream industry, all thanks to a program that lets you earn a Certificate I or II qualification, fully funded by the Queensland Government.

Starting in Years 10, 11, or 12, you can pick up real-world skills in fields like hospitality, IT, or automotive, to name just a few. Plus, it’s not just about gaining industry know-how, your VETiS qualification counts towards your Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). So, while you're gearing up for your future career, you're also ticking off boxes on your education checklist.

The benefits don’t stop at graduation, either. If you complete a Certificate II (or higher) qualification while at school, you can tap into even more government-subsidized training after Year 12. Programs like Year 12 fee-free training and the Certificate 3 Guarantee Program open up further learning opportunities, making your transition from school to career even smoother.
