Your Rights & Responsibilities

Student Rights & Responsibilities

At Australian Business & Hospitality Training (ABHT), we believe that a positive learning environment is built on mutual respect, professionalism and shared responsibility.

As an ABHT student, you have both rights and responsibilities that help ensure a safe, supportive and successful learning experience for everyone.

Your Rights

As a student, you have the right to:

  • Be treated fairly, respectfully and without discrimination.
  • Learn in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Receive quality training and assessment.
  • Access appropriate student support services.
  • Have your personal information handled confidentially.
  • Provide feedback, make a complaint or lodge an appeal in accordance with ABHT policies.

Your Responsibilities

As a student, you are expected to:

  • Attend and actively participate in your scheduled training and assessment activities.
  • Complete assessment tasks by the required due dates.
  • Communicate with your trainer or ABHT if you experience difficulties affecting your studies.
  • Behave respectfully towards trainers, staff, fellow students and workplace personnel.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain academic integrity by ensuring all assessment work submitted is your own.
  • Comply with ABHT policies, procedures and student code of conduct.

Attendance, Participation & Assessment

Students are expected to attend scheduled classes, actively participate in learning activities and complete assessment tasks within agreed timeframes. If circumstances arise that affect your attendance or assessment submission, you should contact ABHT as soon as possible to discuss available options.

Academic Integrity

ABHT is committed to maintaining the integrity of its qualifications. Students must submit their own original work and must not engage in plagiarism, cheating, collusion or any other form of academic misconduct.

Complaints & Appeals

Australian Business & Hospitality Training (ABHT) is committed to providing a fair, transparent and accessible process for resolving complaints and appeals.

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your training, assessment or your experience with ABHT, you have the right to raise a complaint or lodge an appeal without fear of disadvantage.

Our complaints and appeals process is designed to ensure that all matters are handled promptly, fairly, confidentially and in accordance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).

Students can make a complaint or appeal by contacting ABHT directly. We encourage students to raise concerns as early as possible so they can be resolved quickly and effectively.

For full details of the process, including how to lodge a complaint or appeal, expected timeframes, and options for independent review if required, please refer to our Complaints and Appeals Policy below or the ABHT Student Handbook.

If you require assistance in lodging a complaint or appeal, our staff are available to guide you through the process.
